Don Nelson has performed with a wide variety of musical acts throughout North America, playing and arranging music from Big Band to Dixieland and from Ice Shows to Circus Acts to Burlesque. Don played lead and jazz trombone and was staff arranger with the Tony Pastor Band, as well as with many bands around New England, Texas, Arizona and Florida. He has also performed with Steve Allen and the Skitch Henderson Tonight Show Band, The Kate Smith Television Show, Glenn Campbell, Brenda Lee, Della Reese, Kay Starr, Steve Lawrence, Kaye Ballard, Andy Williams, Milton Berle, Howie Mandel, Bob Snyder, Myron Floren and other Lawrence Welk stars and many others. Having studied at Schillinger House in Boston and acquiring his Music Ed. degree at the University Of Maine, he also was a student of famed arranger Willie Maiden. Don Nelson was a music educator for many years, and was the founder of Maine Jazz Camp.
